My auto auto insurance went up about 42%.

They don't – either you're licensed to sell auto insurance, or you aren't. AM Best rates, them, though, so you can get an AM Best rating. A serious hike like that, is probably caused by one or more of the following:1. adding an additional auto auto insurance, or additional driver2. drastic decrease in your credit score3. having multiple tickets during the past year, or one or more at fault accidents4. moving to a higher rated territory within "ill". Call your agent, to ask why your rates went up so much.

You mean Illinois. The Department of auto insurance approves rate increases. But your rate may have got up for other reasons like did you move to a different zip code, did you have an accident or ticket? Did you get a different auto auto insurance? Did you add more coverage? Or, did you rate go up for no reason?Call your auto insurance agent or company and ask.
