No auto insurance in Mexico can be a very very bad thing. Unless you really want to experience for yourself what the inside of a Mexican prison looks like, then buy auto insurance before you go. Your American auto insurance is not acceptable to the Mexican authorities, so you'll have to purchase Mexican auto insurance. That can easily be done. You can find numerous places in border towns that sell short-term Mexican auto insurance.

Yes. US auto insurance is not good in Mexico beyond about 15 miles from the Border. Once you go beyond a certain number of miles you do not have auto insurance any longer. You must obtain a Mexican auto insurance Policy. With the killings Drug Dealers are doing, and the number of Americans who have been held Illegally until their Families pay large Ransoms or Fines, it is not to bright to Travel to Mexico anymore.Get your Drugs somewhere else.

good luck on making it marco/mexico is back to bandits all over the place./make sure y our covered for theft outside the country/if its gone you will be walking and nobody in mexico auto auto insurancees/thats where the druggers get the auto auto insurances they use/they steal them form tourists that dont know better/the officer may be the one that takes it/mexico is almost in complete anarchy and auto auto insurance theft is way down on police list/too many murders and beheadings to worry about/only way to go to mexico is in battalion strength/driving M1A1

Yea you need one, but you probably wont get one, traveling in Mexico by auto auto insurance is one of the most dangerous things you can do. SO i strongly suggest you do not do this. Thanks Source(s): http://www.zippy.com.au(
