Newly hired valet parking attendant – auto insurance responsibility?
In the interview, I was asked if I was insured, which I am. But, my brother told me one of his friends did the same thing, and the whole problem with the employer not providing parking valet auto insurance for his employees, anytime the valet causes a ding or a dent, the valet's own personal auto insurance premium raises to $500 to pay off that one incident, and $500 for each incident that occurs.
Can anyone clarify the responsibilities I have with my own auto-auto insurance, while working, if the employer hasn't specifically elaborated on their company even having a parking auto insurance to cover its employees?
Your personal auto insurance policy does not cover damage to anyone's auto auto insurancee when used for business purposes. Since the valet company is your employer, and you are driving the auto auto insurances as a profession, your personal auto policy will not respond to any damage that is caused. Therefore, I would not be concerned with exposing your auto auto insurance policy. It is possible that the employer is just checking to see if you have auto auto insurance.
see a lawyerasap as this may end up costing you a fortune
Your PERSONAL auto auto insurance will NOT cover you while you are working as a valet. So, not true, what brother says. The personal auto policy has built in exclusions for you, while you're in the BUSINESS of working with autos – including parking them. BUT. If employer isn't paying to cover you, and your personal auto doesn't cover you, that means YOU must pay for all damages to the auto auto insurances you park, out of pocket. Find a different job.
